Packing for a Camping Pod Holiday – A Helpful Guide

Staying in a camping pod is a great alternative to camping in a tent if you fancy a slightly more comfortable experience. Packing for a camping pod holiday here in the UK is somewhat different to packing for a tent camping trip. If this is your first time staying in a camping pod, this guide will help you figure out what to pack. Let’s get started!

What Kind of Pod Have You Booked?

Some camping pods are simply an empty wooden structure with perhaps a radiatior, a lamp, and some plug sockets – nothing else. These just act as a sturdier and slightly more comfortable tent. For these you would still need pretty much all your regular camping essentials – except for the tent of course.

Then there are glamping pods that are equipped with pretty much everything: beds with linen, a bathroom with a shower and a toilet, towels, a kitchen with a sink, fridge, toaster, coffee maker, crockery, etc., a living area with a sofa and a TV, and more. These types of camping pods are very comfortable (and expensive!) and don’t require you to take much with you at all except for food, clothing, and personal items.

The above are our essentials for the kind of pod camping trips that we do. We usually go for the kind of camping pods that are empty as they’re the easiest to find for a family of 5. Those are the ones that require the most amount of stuff.

Even so, they are much easier than camping in a tent as there are no concerns about putting a tent up or taking it down in the rain (why does it always rain when we go camping?!) and you don’t need to dry the tent out when you get back home either. Not having to pack a tent saves a lot of space in the car too, naturally.
